Introduction: In today's class we will begin Chapter 10 by discussing the qualities of sucessful, admirable people. We will also look at the profile of several job applicants and choose the one with the best qualities for the position. Finally, we will learn how to write a personal profile to highlight your good qualities.

Task 1: Unit Opener
Go to page 117 in your student book.
- Look at the picture. What do you think life is like in this place?
- What role do you think elephants have in this society?
- A mahout is an elephant trainer. What skills and qualities do you think they need to have?
Listen to the audio and take notes of keywords and phrases related to these ideas:
- Mahout training
- Mahout qualities
- Connection between the mahout and the elephant
What qualifications does someone need to do well in your current or future job?
Task 2: Describing Skills, Talents, and Experience
Go to page 124 in your book and complete the following exercises with your partners.
- Tell you partners the answer to these questions:
- When you leave your house, what are 3 things that you always take with you?
- Why are these things important to you?
- What would happen if you left your house without them?
Complete exercises 1, 2, and 3. For exercises 2 and 3, one student will need to share his/her screen and computer sound so you can all hear the listening.
Task 3: The Right Candidate for the Job
Let's imagine that you and your partners work in the human resources department of a company and you need to make a decision about which candidates to choose for an important position.
